San Diego: The Ultimate Family Beach Vacation
Beach. Zoo. Parks. Fish Tacos! And so much more. We love the mix of people and things to do.
Highlights:
Fletcher’s Cove Beach for beautiful sandy beach, playground, and picnic area
Moonlight Beach for the playground - kiddos made so many friends we spent 2 hours here
Mahi Mahi tacos at Fish 101
Pacific Coast Grill for fine dining foodie experience
Maritime Museum is an easy breezy museum visit with ocean views and learning opportunities
Balboa Park or the Botanical Garden, depending what area you are staying
Our family opted to save Legoland and the San Diego Zoo for another visit. With the kids being 1 & 3, we find it’s more fun for everyone to do low key activities with no time commitments. We do know families with older kids really enjoy the many theme parks in San Diego.
Logistics:
Baby gear we used: Guava Travel Crib, countertop high chair, Mockingbird stroller, baby monitor, eating set, beach tent, car seats.
Renting a car will make this trip most enjoyable. There is so much to do so it’s not a vacation where you taxi to the resort and post up for a few days.
We always encourage a vacation home rental so we have a washer/dryer, kitchen, a bedroom for the kids so we can hang out after bedtime, and we can request for our baby gear to be setup upon arrival! We recommend the areas of Encinitas and Solana Beach.
City Pass is popular for families who want to enjoy the theme parks.
